I know what you’re thinking: “they actually deleted scenes from This Is 40? Couldn’t they have deleted several more?” I thought the movie was never gonna end.

… ANYWAY, Armstrong plays himself in the movie, and there’s a deleted scene in which the Green Day frontman pitches Paul Rudd’s character — the owner of a fledgling independent record label — on a new solo project that mixes “Norwegian Death Metal and Belle & Sebastian.” The resulting scene is actually pretty funny, although I can definitely understand why it was cut. I’d venture that all of the scenes featuring Armstrong could’ve easily been cut without much plot consequence, but alas. Here’s the scene, via Metal Injection:
