2013 Tour Alert: Cradle of Filth, The Faceless, Decapitated and The Agonist

That’s what multiple sources are reporting, although it hasn’t officially been announced yet. Lambgoat was able to dig up the first three dates below (presumably culled from on-sale pages or Facebook event pages like this one), and MetalSucks reader Brandon G. sent us this link to the Seattle date. Here are the four known dates so far:

2/23 Worcester, MA @ The Palladium Downstairs
3/1 Atlanta, GA @ the Masquerade
3/7 Tempe, AZ @ Marquee Theatre
4/12 Seattle, WA @ Studio Seven

I am a bit surprised that Cradle of Filth are headlining over The Faceless. I know they’ve been around way longer, have more albums, more tour history, presumably more fans, etc… but in the “what have you done for me lately?” game The Faceless win handily. Cradle of Filth have the legacy, but today’s young metal fans couldn’t really care less. It’s also a strange stylistic match; I can see plenty of overlap between The Faceless and Decapitated fans, but Cradle of Filth strike me as the odd band out. I wonder if venues will start to clear when The Faceless finish? Or am I vastly underestimating Cradle of Filth’s fanbase? I guess we’ll see.

These tour date “leaks” are becoming so common nowadays that I’m starting to wonder whether agents/labels/managers plan them as a sort of “soft announcement” to game sites like this one into hyping an extra post about a tour. That would be a pretty clever marketing tactic. Just a thought.
