Speaking of The Cavaleras…

Richie Cavalera lives in the darkness of a massive, massive shadow: his father is Max Cavalera and his uncle is Igor Cavalera, and I shouldn’t even have to say anything else. You get it. “Holy shit, good luck living up to that legacy, dude!” should be your only thought.

Well, he doesn’t live up to that legacy; in fact, he fails rather spectacularly. Incite will be opening for Soulfly on their next tour, so it seems clear that Max is helping out his son — but Incite must not have sought out that help until after they recorded this song and filmed this video, because it’s hard for me to imagine Max signing off on this… it barely sounds or looks professional.

This isn’t the first time the offspring of a legendary metal musician has released totally mediocre work of his or her own; Steve Harris’ daughter, Bruce Dickinson’s son, and Ian Hill’s son have made some really subpar music. I find it kind of baffling that none of these folks seem to have picked up anything from their parents. Any theories as to why that is?
