Play Thrash It or Trash It
One of my favorite recurring segments from the Metal Injection Livecast is “Thrash It or Trash It,” a game in which the Livecast gang listens to a random demo by an unsigned band, and then everyone votes as to whether they give it a thumbs up (“thrash it”) or a thumbs down (“trash it”… duh). It’s a lot of fun, and I’m sure most listeners play along at home, even if they don’t get to broadcast their opinions.
But now they can broadcast their opinions, thanks to an awesome new website from the Metal Injection team themselves: ThrashItorTrashIt.com. And the site is actually even better than the Livecast game, because not only does it allow far more participants, but it’s democratic, and could potentially give great young bands a lot of good exposure and terrible young bands just the kick in the pants they need: like Funny or Die, anyone can upload material, and anyone can then pass judgment on that material, with the top thrashes and trashes then being listed on the site’s charts. So right now, for example, it probably really sucks to be a member of Errata, whose song “Have Another Scone” has been trashed by 94% of listeners — but it’s probably a real confidence boost for System Annihilated to find themselves #1 on the “Top Thrashed” chart.
Go to this link to listen and thrash or trash what ya hear. You do have to register, but registration is totally free, and totally worth it. I promise, you will have a lot of fun wasting copious amounts of time listening to unsigned bands on this site. I already have!
