Hydra Head Records Announces Massive Sale of Test Pressings, Original Artwork, etc.

Hydra Head RecordsThis past September, seminal underground hardcore and metal label Hydra Head announced they’d be shutting down forever after 20 years as mainstays in the scene. Head honcho Aaron Turner released a statement about that decision, which you should definitely read in full, in which he detailed the reasons behind his decision and laid out a plan for the label moving forward. Here’s an excerpt about his short-term plans for Hydra Head:

For the short term we will continue to operate as we have been, effecting our first step into shutdown this December, at which point we are cutting off new releases from the label. Thereafter, we will be remain operational only in the interest of maintaining our back catalog, with the ultimate aim of repaying our rather sizable debts.

The above first phase has now officially begun: Hydra Head has announced a massive sell-off of assets, ranging “from the small and accessible (stickers, pins, etc), to the large and costly (lots of 150+ rare records and test pressings, musical instruments, original artwork, 7” box sets, etc), and a whole lot in between (t-shirts, subscriptions to our future vinyl represses, box lots of highly discounted CDs, etc.). I just took a quick look at what they’re offering for sale, and there is a TON of cool shit that any fan of many of the excellent bands in Hydra Head’s stable should be interested in.

Also, for those of you in the L.A. area, Hydra Head is offering free records and lunch to people interested in volunteering to help pack and ship all of these items. Sweet deal!
