Quiznos Really Knows the Metal Market
Did you know that one week from today, Tuesday, December 4, is National Cookie Day here in the U.S.? Yeah neither did I, but apparently it’s a real thing. And Quiznos, the fast-food sandwich chain that isn’t Subway or Blimpie (side note: is there still such a thing as Blimpie?), will celebrate by giving away free cookies.
“Ok, great, I will happily stroll over there and get a free cookie. Fuck does this have to do with metal, Axl?” you ask. Well, I’ll tell ya: for reasons very far beyond me, Quiznos’ ad alerting consumers to this promotion features a fictional metal band… singing about free cookies… while riding atop a giant cookie.
…
Look, I’m not making this shit up:

Like I said, the reasons why this was chosen as the ad campaign are totally beyond me. For one thing, I don’t think it would take much more to “sell” free cookies other than to say “We are giving away free cookies,” so this whole commercial strikes me as being needlessly elaborate. But even if you were, for some reason, going to do a metal-themed free cookie ad… not to create a fictional band that utilizes Cookie Monster vocals just seems like a wasted opportunity, doesn’t it???
You can go here to find a Quiznos near you and take advantage of this free cookie offer.
