This Friday: WSOU 89.5FM will Host a Hurricane Sandy Benefit Radio-thon
Hurricane Sandy may be out of the collective U.S. consciousness now that the holiday season is in full swing, but for those of us on the East Coast the effects of the storm are still being felt in a major way. Even if you were lucky enough to be spared by the storm, you most certainly know at least one person who lost everything. Thankfully the MetalSucks Mansion and all of its residents were spared, but dozens of our friends and family members’ homes and offices sustained considerable damage during Sandy.
The legendary all-metal radio station 89.5FM WSOU is doing what they can to help local residents rebuild. WSOU will be hosting a radio-thon to collect donations for Hurricane Sandy relief on Friday, November 30th running from 6am until midnight. The station will be playing their regular rotation of metal throughout the day with the DJs asking for donations during the breaks. Listeners will be able to call up and pledge various amounts of money in the following tiers, with the following gifts awarded as thanks:
- $25-$49: a WSOU prize pack containing WSOU stickers, pens, bottle openers and a random CD.
- $50-$99: a special Hurricane Sandy relief t-shift WSOU is making specifically for the occasion, plus the above prize pack.
- $100+: a WSOU Hoodie, the above shirt, and the above prize pack.
The station will also be running raffles all day; tickets can be purchased separately for $25 each. The raffle prizes include a signed Slipknot poster (includes Paul Gray), a 3 Inches of Blood snowboard and a framed drum head signed by all members of Five Finger Death Punch, among other prizes. A slew of guest DJs will be visiting the studio throughout the day as well.
The goal is to raise $8950 by the end of the day. We can do this, people! Tune in this Friday to 89.5 on the FM dial.
