Future Ex-Mrs. Axl Rosenberg Quits Cerebral Bore
It certainly seemed as though everything was on the up and up for Scottish deathcore outfit Cerebral Bore, didn’t it? Just last year, the band was voted onto Summer Slaughter, beating out other popular acts such as Vildjharta, Pathology, and Battlecross for that package tour’s coveted opening slot, which, at the very least, suggests that they’ve developed a significant following.
And yet, all was apparently not well in Cerebral Bore-land! The band has announced that Dutch vocalist Simone “Som” Pluijmers, who won the hearts of sickos like me with her YouTube vocal covers back in 2010, has left the fold under what seems like less-than-amicable circumstances:
“Som walked out on us less than 24 hours before the [MetalSucks-sponsored] US tour [with Dying Fetus, Cattle Decapitation, and Malignancy], and we were forced to either cancel or go ahead with it as an instrumental if need be. We didn’t want to let our US fans down, so we went ahead with our buddy Shawn Whitaker [from Insidious Decrepancy] on vocals for the tour. Show us your support and make Shawn feel at home, he saved us from a disaster.”
Pluijmers, naturally, has released her own statement in response… we think. No Clean Singing, where I first saw this quote, hasn’t been able to verify its authenticity, so take it with a grain of salt for now:
“I decided to leave because [guitarist] Paul McGuire treated me bad… And him saying I walked out on them like Im a bitch is ridicilious. Im not a diva, I had to do this for my own happiness and safety. He woudnt let us have an own opinion or wouldnt let me have friends and screamt at us all the time. Im sorry but I was too unhappy with him and had to leave. There was more going on than this but if hes gonna start bullshit than im more than happy to tell you guys the truth. I had to do this for me and thought about fans etc. it was a difficult decision… But for the best”
So, yeah. Like I said, less-than-amicable circumstances.
ANYWAY, I’m not familiar with Shawn Whitaker (although for some reason I find the band name “Insidious Decrepancy” to be hilarious), but hopefully Pluijmers’ absence won’t diminish anyone’s enjoyment of the band’s current, aforementioned tour with Dying Fetus, Cattle Decapitation, and Malignancy any — ’cause that is still a killer friggin’ bill.
