Watch this Purdy Coheed and Cambria Music Video for “The Afterman”
Here’s what the press release for Coheed and Cambria’s new music video for “The Afterman” has to say about the clip’s (and the album from whence it came’s) storyline:
… the music video, which shows the band at their most delicate and cinematic, [continues] the visual story from the album’s story line. The video sees The Afterman’s (i.e. Sirius Amory) spaceship exploding in the sky, and his wife Meri’s emotional response to the news.
About The Afterman: The first volume from the double-album charts Sirius’ sci-fi journey into the stars of the alternate universe known well by Coheed fans as “Heaven’s Fence.” Upon entering “the Keywork,” the blue gaseous energy force that powers these worlds, Amory stumbles upon the Afterlife. In his first confrontation with a soul, “Domino the Destitute” possesses Sirius, who is forced to relive the frenetic events that had occurred in Domino’s waking life. The second volume, ’Descension’ follows Sirius’ return to his home planet after a long absence and the negative effects that follow.
So, uh… whatevs. You could also just watch the video for the purdy cinematography and soothing music and not worry about any of that.

For a taste of Coheed’s heavier side — with an accompanying video that’s equally, if not more, visually arresting than this one — check out “Domino the Destitute.”
Coheed will be touring with Between the Buried and Me and Russian Circles in 2013. Dig it.
