Shadows Fall Forced to Cancel Four Shows on The Party to the Apocalypse Tour

Update, 1:04 pm: We’ve just been informed that these dates are 100% cancelled, and the rest of the package will not be performing on them. Original story follows below.

Bummer news: Shadows Fall will be forced to miss four dates on their currently-in-progress, MetalSucks-sponsored Party the Apocalypse Tour, because drummer Jason Bittner requires immediate medical attention. A statement from Bitner explains:

“For those who may not know- I was diagnosed last week with acute pancreatitis – for most of the last Shadows Fall tour I was in a lot of abdominal pain which I figured was either food poisoning or a stomach bug, unfortunately it turns out to be a little more serious than that. After a trip to the ER last Monday I received the diagnosis and some pain treatment. That being said it pains me to say that due to Doctor’s orders I am not cleared (nor do I even feel like I could pick up a stick) to begin touring until after I see the specialist and my blood work is back to normal, I apologize to the fans cause it kills me to not be there, but my health comes first and I need to recuperate in order to return 110%”

The tour dates the band will be unable to play are as follows:

November 8 – Fayetteville, NC – The Norva
November 9 – Jacksonville, NC – Hooligans
November 10 – Charleston, SC – Ground Zero
November 11 – Jacksonville, FL – The Roc Bar

The press release announcing the news didn’t specify whether or not the other bands on the tour — God Forbid, Thy Will Be Done, and Trumpet the Harlot — would still playing or not, but I’d assume they will, with each band (or, at least, God Forbid) playing an extended set. You should check with your local venue to see if this is the case or not.

It also seems as though, at least based on the fact that only four dates were cancelled, Shadows Fall will return to finish out the tour starting November 13 in Fort Lauderdale. I’m sure the band would agree with me that missing four shows is better than having to cancel basically the entire second half of the tour!

We wish Jason a speedy recovery and send out good vibes to him and all the other dudes in Shadows Fall. Here are the remaining dates once Bittner is back up on his feet:

November 13 – Nashville, TN – Hard Rock Cafe
November 14 – Birmingham, AL – Zydeco
November 15 – Shreveport, LA – The Warehouse
November 16 – Oklahoma City, OK – Chameleon Room
November 17 – Houston, , TX – Scout Bar
November 18 – Austin, TX – Dirty Dog Bar
November 20 – Midland, TX – Blue Maxx
November 21 – El Paso, TX – House Of Rock
November 22 – Gallup, NM – Juggernaut
November 23 – Phoenix, AZ – Joes Grotto
