Suicide Silence frontman Mitch Lucker was an avid user of the photo sharing service Instagram (@mitchypoosays) in the days and weeks leading up to his untimely and most unfortunate death this morning. A look through his Instagram account reveals a man with an intense love and passion for two things above all else: his daughter and motorcycles. On one occasion he captured both of those passions in a single photograph, and the result is absolutely heartbreaking.
Lucker laughed in the face of peril and lived dangerously, playing a show in spite of a badly broken elbow and ending up back in the hospital with a nasty infection in the process. On multiple occasions he boasted about his high-speed motorcycle exploits.
According to his Instagram photos, he had recently purchased a new motorcycle helmet which he noted was “not DOT certified,” and he had just bought a new Harley Davidson motorcycle which he performed modifications on himself. Whether either of those new purchases factored into his accident, we may never know for certain.
Lucker had recently done a photoshoot with his motorcycle for AP Magazine. If and when that photoshoot is published, it will be a bittersweet tribute to one of the most energetic and well-known frontmen in modern metal.
In his final post to Instagram last night, Lucker posted a portrait of his Halloween costume with the caption “The dead are living…”. It’s positively chilling.
Below, have a look at some selected photos from Mitch’s Instagram account spanning the past two months.
Once again, on behalf of everyone at MetalSucks, we wish Mitch’s family, friends and bandmates all the best.
