THE NERGALNATOR

In the latest trailer for his book Sacrum Profanum, Nergal, dressed at The Terminator, walks into a church while holding a rifle.

Look: I love Nergal, I love Behemoth, and I’m really looking forward to reading this thing, but holy shit, does this trailer ever make me uncomfortable. It’s hard to interpret it as anything but an endorsement of violence, and while I’m not exactly the world’s biggest supporter of organized religion (or disorganized religion, I guess), I’m not really cool with anyone walking into a church and blowing people away. (Ironically, Nergal opines in the voice-over that people have compared him to al-Qaeda. This should really quell those comparisons.)

Also, dressing up unironically like The Terminator seems like the kind of macho bullshit we don’t usually associate with Nergal. Just sayin’.

Am I overreacting? Is Nergal just trying to be provocative and I’m falling for it hook, line, and sinker? Put another way — did I just get trolled by Nergal???
