REMEMBER WAY BACK WHEN ACE FREHLEY PISSED OFF GENE SIMMONS ON THE TOMORROW SHOW WITH TOM SNYDER?
Philip Anselmo and I recently penned a deal with the biggest publishing house in the world, Simon & Schuster, to write Philip’s autobiography, Mouth For War. What’s really cool for us about signing with S&S is that our Senior Editor, Jeremie Ruby-Strauus, was my editor at Kensington for some of my earliest true crime books. Jeremie has an amazing track record when it comes to rock biographies. He’s worked on Motley Crue’s The Dirt and Marilyn Manson’s Long Hard Road Out Of Hell. He’s also partially responsible for Max Tucker Tucker Max (Thanks, Bob! – cm), as well as new rock autobiographies from Dee Snider and Ace Frehley.
As Philip’s right hand man on Mouth For War, I decided I better get up to speed on S&S’s rock books. I’m currently reading Dee Snider’s Shut Up And Give Me The Mic. It’s packed with info on Dee and Twisted Sister which, depending on the reader, may or may not be a good thing. I also read Ace Frehley’s memoir, No Regrets. I was never a Kiss fan, but Philip is and Dimebag was a HUGE fan of Space Ace. I found a lot to like about the book.
One of my favorite parts was when he discussed a Kiss appearance on The Tomorrow Show with Tom Snyder back in 1979. If you enjoy watching hysterical people pissing off Gene Simmons, this will be nirvana for you.
