IF THERE’S ONE THING THE WORLD NEEDS MORE OF, IT’S DUDES NAMED JOE NELSON

According to the below tweet from Travis Richter, who may or may not be back in The Human Abstract, he and THA drummer Brett Powell are now working on a new project with a guy named Joe Nelson. Here’s the tweet in case you don’t believe anything I just typed for some reason:

This would seem to answer our question as to why Richter was openly searching for a guitarist that “could shred THA style” last week; of course, it also begs the question, “Who the hell is Joe Nelson?”

A quick Google search of “Joe Nelson” isn’t especially helpful in answering this query, since, no shock, there’s about eighteen gajillion people in the world named “Joe Nelson.” Adding the word “guitarist” to that search doesn’t help much, either. I think it’s safe to assume that they’re not referring to this Joe Nelson or this Joe Nelson or the Joe Nelson who used to be in Ignite (but wasn’t a guitarist anyway). There was a guitar player named Joe Nelson in a band called Automatic Loveletter from Tampa; Richter and Powell are located on the West Coast, but it’s obviously not unthinakable that the Tampa Joe Nelson has since relocated to Los Angeles. I wouldn’t be all that surprised if they meant this Joe Nelson, who is a guitarist and definitely shreds and seems to live in the L.A. area, and, I gotta say, looks like someone who’d be in a band with members of The Human Abstract. But they could be talking about a long-lost third Nelson triplet for all I know.

Presumably more information will be made available soon. And, if not, I’m happy to keep speculating freely until we know the answer. I’m responsible like that.
