RACHEL MADDOW THINKS DEATH METAL IN TAMPA IS COOL

Much has been made of the Republican National Convention’s chosen location of Tampa, FL, the birthplace of death metal. And with good reason: it’s quite amusing that a party so steeped in religious conservatism would base their Presidential campaign media blitz out of a city whose main cultural export is so vehemently anti-God.

Despite seeing the “stripper and death metal capital of the world” thing thrown around in the media all week, it’s still entertaining to see someone like Rachel Maddow talking about Deicide, Obituary, Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse. Not that Maddow, an uber-liberal, would necessarily object to the bands’ lyrical sentiments… it’s just always fun to see any serious mention of real metal bands on a national news program.
