AND THE PRODUCER OF THE NEW MEGADETH ALBUM IS…
…Johnny K! Again. He also produced ‘Deth’s most recent offering, TH1RT3EN, which I liked, but did not like as much as their previous effort, Endgame. And although he’s mostly known for working on albums I absolutely loathe (his credits including multiple outings with Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, and Soil or SoiL or SoIl or whatever the fuck they’re called), he also produced Sevendust’s Cold Day Memory, which I loved.
I guess what I’m saying is, I feel pretty neutral about this announcement. If the new Megadeth album is good or bad, I’m guessing it won’t be based on the quality of its production.
What’s really interesting about Megadeth starting work on their next release is all the brouhaha that’s been surrounding Dave Mustaine as of late; Mustaine has promised that “this should be a very interesting record,” but we obviously don’t know yet if that means he’s really challenging the band as musicians, or he plans to write a concept album about how Barack Obama and homosexual communist Martians are conspiring to limit the amount of soda we can buy at the movies. There’s a sick part of me that’s hoping it’s the latter.
