NEW MUSIC ROUND-UP: GYPSYHAWK, NORTH AND NIHILL
I’m very hungover from last night’s Gojira show and the ensuing boozy after-hang, so let’s just cut the crap and get right to it. There’s some new music out today. It’s pretty good. You should check it out.
’70s-style trad metallers Gypsyhawk have a new song in the form of “The Fields” streaming now at Alt Press. I like this band; like the singer’s voice, like the grooves, like the twin-guitar attack, the songwriting. What’s not to like? Plus, nerd alert: this song is supposedly about quantum physics.
Decibel is streaming the entire new album by Tucson-based outfit North. It’s simultaneously doomy and a little bit proggy; think early Intronaut and early Baroness with the tempo rolled back a bit. Dig it here.
Decibel is also streaming a track by viscious Dutch black metal rippers Nihill. Our own Sammy O’Hagar really enjoyed their new album, so won’t you go give it a shot? It’s extremely grim and frosty. The band shares Dodecahedron vocalist Michiel Eikenaar but they’re way less tech-y.
