QUEENSRYCHE ARE NOW OFFICIALLY THE NEW L.A. GUNS, WILL TOUR AS TWO COMPETING QUEENSRYCHES
Just when you thought this Geoff Tate leaving Queensryche drama couldn’t get any more ridiculous OK, this whole thing has been insanely ridiculous from the start and only continues to grow moreso by the day. It seems as if Geoff Tate is going to pull a Tracii Guns and create his own version of Queensryche while his ex-bandmates also tour as Queensryche, unwittingly making himself and his former pals the punching bags of many a joke for years to come (as if they weren’t already). This is even worse than reigning champs of duplicate touring outfits L.A. Guns if only because Queensryche were and still are like 100x more popular than L.A. Guns ever were. Reputation: immediately damaged, and quickly going down the shitter faster than you can say “Drano.”
How do we know Tate is planning these shenanigans? A recent Billboard article reports the juicy details.
Of note:
1) the two competing Queensryche factions are locked in a battle over the band’s official website, Twitter and Facebook accounts. For the most part the details are tl;dr, but there’s been a spate of new websites, old ones being hijacked by opposing parties, so on and so forth. Who has time to follow this crap?
2) Tate’s booking agency Monterey International has listed “Queensryche Starring Geoff Tate: The Original Voice” on their website with a glowing, tacky description touting his crucial role in his old band.
Kick back, relax, and watch the sparks fly: this is gonna be fun to watch. Surely there will be plenty of lawsuits going both directions. Pity the casual fans who don’t have the time or inclination to follow all this drama and plunk down hard-earned dough on a concert ticket without knowing any better.
