A NON-UPDATE ON THE “SUMERIAN NATION” ALL STARS COMPILATION
Hey, so remember that Roadrunner United / Nuclear Blast All Stars-type compilation called Sumerian Nation that Sumerian Records teased about a year and a half ago? Sumerian promised an “out of this world” collaboration between various members of the Sumerian family, which, so long as world-renowned author Danny Worsnop is not involved, actually seems like a pretty cool idea. Various permutations and combinations of members of the The Faceless, Animals as Leaders, Periphery, Veil of Maya, After the Burial, etc, writing new material together = loads of potential.
But 2011 came and went, now 2012 is more than half over, and still no Sumerian Nation. So, at the urging of MetalSucks reader Jaziel O., we followed up with the label to get the skinny.
And the skinny is: there basically is no skinny. The project never coalesced as planned, although there are still plans to make it happen when the timing is right. “We are certainly looking to get it going sooner than later,” promised the label’s publicist.
So: carry on with your lives, Sumerian lovers. Maybe next year.
