NEW CLOUDKICKER ALBUM IS OUT RIGHT NOW!!

The new Cloudkicker album Fade is out — right now! — in typically Cloudkickerian fashion: with no hype, fanfare or advance announcement whatsoever. As usual, it’s been posted on Bandcamp for free or “name your own price,” with physical editions in CD and vinyl on the way soon. Stream it below:

First impressions: this is by far the best-SOUNDING Cloudkicker album to date. The recording, production and mixing sound incredible, consistent with what Ben Sharp claimed he was working on in a blog post a couple of months back. In that same blog post Sharp referenced the Butch Vig-produced guitars of Siamese Dream as a model for what he was trying to achieve, and interestingly enough today is Vig’s birthday.

I’ve now listened to Fade once through, and I feel compelled to start it right over again: this might be Cloudkicker’s finest work to date. It’s something of a departure from his past work in that it’s got a whole less to do with the whole instru-metal / djent / whatever scene as a whole, but that’s a good thing, and it’s still distinctly Cloudkicker.
