GOJIRA ARE BOOKING U.S. HEADLINE DATES FOR AUGUST!
UPDATE, 4:28pm EDT: The Facebook page for Peabody’s in Cleveland lists an August 20th date for Gojira. [Thanks: Jacob D.]
Original Post:
Ain’t no stinkin’ Czech prison gonna stop Gojira from touring the States! Less than a week after the Lamb of God / Dethklok / Gojira tour was officially canceled due to Randy Blythe’s ongoing incarceration, a couple of Gojira headline dates have popped up surrounding their appearances at the massive Heavy MTL and Heavy TO shows in Canada on August 11th and 12th.
Don’t expect a full tour out of this. Despite a brand new record and ever-growing popularity, I don’t think Gojira are ready for a full U.S. headliner yet. The two dates that have surfaced seem carefully orchestrated; they’re both on the East Coast (close to the Canadian festivals), they’re directly before and after said fests, and they’re both in major markets where Gojira presumably have a strong history (although I can only vouch for one). Here they are:
08/09 New York, NY – Santos Party House
08/13 Worcester, MA – The Palladium
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a date pop up on August 10th, although the band might need that day off to prep for the Canadian fests. I also wouldn’t be shocked to see a few more East Coast shows booked after the 13th. May as well hit a few strong markets while the band is already here, gear and van are already rented, visas are already procured and so on and so forth.
Tickets for the NYC date are on sale now; we bought ours the minute they went up! Gojira’s two previous headline shows in New York were absolutely beyond epic.
No news yet on any rescheduled dates for Dethklok, though their big stage production makes quick re-booking difficult.
