GUNFACE SHOOTING ALL OVER THE PLACE
Awesome news for fans of The Red Chord, and guitarist Mike “Gunface” McKenzie in particular: not only is he about to head out on the road filling-in on bass for Job for a Cowboy during at least part of Summer Slaughter, but it looks like he’s working on a plethora of new music for various projects, too — including, of course, TRC. Here are some collected tweets he sent out over The Red Chord’s Twitter account:
“Greg [Weeks, bassist] and I have been working on new TRC songs as well. Stomach Earth is now finished, on to the next thing. So Stomach Earth, Unraveller, TRC & at least one other release within the next year hopefully. Stomach Earth & Unraveller will both be out in the fall. I also sang a few parts and made some guitar noise on the new Old Man Gloom. Go pick it up, it’s excellent.”
My fanboyish feelings for The Red Chord are no secret, and I named Stomach Earth as the album that would fuck your face off this year, so I’m beyond stoked to learn that it will finally be coming out in the not-too-distant future. I had forgotten all about this Unraveller thing — the last time I heard Gunface bring it up was in 2009 — and I don’t know all that much about it. But whatever, if Gunface is involved, I’ll listen.
More details as they become available…
