HERE’S THE LATEST ON RANDY BLYTHE

Randy Blythe has now been in jail for two weeks, and now it looks like he’s going to be there for at least another week — because according to The Gauntlet, Blythe’s third bail hearing won’t occur until Thursday, July 19. Which sucks bad enough, but get this: The Gauntlet report also says that “even if Randy Blythe’s bail is upheld, the prosecutor can still have yet another court to rule on top of this one.” And who the hell knows how long that would take.

And it gets worse still! While many fans (myself included) have taken at least some comfort from the fact that the evidence thus far hasn’t been very convincing, now at least one person is claiming that’s because non of us have seen the real evidence. An alleged friend of the victim, Daniel N., tells The Prague Post that “There are many videos which do not even show Dan… Randy was brutal, and pushed Dan down where nobody could catch him.” This description of the altercation is more in line with those previously found on Czech message boards — although whether or not this source turns out to be reliable obviously remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Metal Insider now asks what many were already thinking: “how much longer before Lamb of God’s expected tour with Gojira and Dethklok it gets postponed or canceled?” The trek is scheduled to kick off in less than a month. If Blythe actually manages to get free before than and does the tour, his legend in the metal community will only continue to grow. And if he manages to get free and doesn’t do the tour, well… no one would blame him. At this point, I think most of us would still just like to see him freed.
