FEAR, EMPTINESS, DECIBEL: ANNOUNCING THE 100TH ISSUE CELEBRATION!!!
Before there were blogs there were these things called magazines, and the only metal magazine we still get excited about reading every month is Decibel. Here’s managing editor Andrew Bonazelli…
Not many magazines get to 100 issues these days. If Woody Harrelson was right in 2012, we won’t either. But barring a series of catastrophic earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and floods, we’ll give it our best shot—and coinciding with the occasion, we’re putting on an extra-special super fucking kick-ass 100th issue show next January in Philadelphia!
You may recall that we had a pretty sick 50th issue show at Philly venue Johnny Brenda’s a few years ago, featuring future Album of the Year winners Tombs opening for Made Out of Babies and A Life Once Lost. It was good, drunken times, but this one’s going to crush on a way bigger level. Of course, I can’t tell you the venue or date, much less the confirmed lineup—nor can I offer you a shirt or subscription for guessing that lineup—but if you wanna start speculating, here’s one meager hint: at least two of the bands on the bill have graced our cover before.
OK, so in the spirit of Juggs’ 100th issue party back in, uh, I don’t know, December of 1988: gentlemen, start your boners.
