PERIPHERY “MAKE TOTAL DESTROY”
Last night, Vince and I got high (Nnnnnnooooo!) and saw Piranha 3DD, which, I am heartbroken to report, is not even a fraction as amazing as its predecessor, which may have been the finest dramatic work of our generation. “How did they screw that up?” Vince asked me as we were leaving the theater. Making a satisfying sequel to a movie about piranhas that eat nubile youngsters during spring break seems like kind of a no-brainer, right? And yet, the sequel sucked.
One sequel that I am confident will not suck: Periphery II, which, hard to believe, is already coming next month! Proof is in the puddin’: Namely, the band’s first single from that album, “Make Total Destroy,” which you can stream below. I guess technically it’s not a new-new song — a quick Google search shows Misha Mansoor released an instrumental version of it at least as far as back as January 2011 — but this version is obviously way spiffier. It basically sounds like Periphery, only Peripheryier. In other words, Vince will not be asking me “How did they screw that up?” come July.
Periphery II comes out July 3 on Sumerian. The band will be part of this year’s Summer Slaughter; get dates here.
