OMG, THE DUDES IN GYPSYHAWK MUST BE SUCH NERDS
The new Gypsyhawk jam is called “Hedgeking,” which is apparently a reference to The Hedge Knight, a novella “Set in the world of the Song of Ice and Fires eries” — a.k.a. the basis for the HBO program Game of Thrones — “eighty-nine years before the events of the main cycle” — meaning everyone involved is dead by the time Game of Thrones begins. Which is why, despite my ardor for GoT, I had to do background research on this — there’s only been a passing reference to The Hedge Knight, Ser Duncan the Tall [smacks forehead] on the TV version. And even if I had read all of the books, I still would have had to read this whole prequel thing to know who the fuck The Hedge Knight is.
In other words, the dudes in Gypsyhawk must be geeks of the most colossal order.
Just when you thought you couldn’t love this band anymore, y’know?
Bonus: “Hedgeking” is some rockin’, catchy shit, man! So even if I hadn’t just told you any of that crap, or you read it all and could not care less, you should still totally check out the tunage.
