NEILSTEIN SOUNDSCAM: SIX FEET UNDER, FIREWIND, SLASH AND MORE
Olds dominated the big debuts last week: Slash and The Cult. Six Feet Under, Sonata Arctica, Kill Devil Hill, Saint Vitus, Firewind and more also broke into the Top 100 of the Current Hard Music chart while Tenacious D and Shadows Fall maintained in Week 2.
1 SLASH FEAT. MYLES KENNEDY & TH – APOCALYPTIC LOVE
Last week: 37,782 (debut)
Wow, I mean… pretty fucking good number, right? Guess all those Fergie guest appearances paid off.
2 TENACIOUS D – RIZE OF THE FENIX
Last week: 14,445
Cume: 63,190
70% drop in Week 2. Still a big number.
3 CULT – CHOICE OF WEAPON
Last week: 11,688 (debut)
Not bad for a bunch of olds.
11 SHADOWS FALL – FIRE FROM THE SKY
Last week: 2,858
Cume: 13,069
The usual 72% drop in Week 2. Serious question, I wonder if Razor & Tie is satisfied with these numbers?
14 SIX FEET UNDER – UNDEAD
Last week: 2,825 (debut)
That’s a really good number for Six Feet Under, methinks. I don’t have full access to Soundscan so I can’t pull their past album debuts, but the buzz around this record is all pretty positive and it’s receiving the most press I can ever remember seeing for this band.
19 SONATA ARCTICA – STONES GROW HER NAME
Last week: 2,225 (debut)
Sonata Arctica have a new record out?
22 KILL DEVIL HILL – S/T
Last week: 1,936 (debut)
Those involved are probably pretty bummed about this.
40 SAINT VITUS – LILLIE: F-65
Last week: 1,313 (debut)
I always expect Saint Vitus to be more popular than they are.
45 FIREWIND – FEW AGAINST MANY
Last week: 1,029 (debut)
That Gus G.’s gig with Ozzy hasn’t really translated into ANY additional success for Firewind has shocked pretty much everyone, including me. Maybe it’s because he wouldn’t take Firewind out to open for Ozzy on tour like Zakk Wylde always did with BLS?
47 SABATON – CAROLUS REX
Last week: 1,001
…
79 CATTLE DECAPITATION – MONOLITH OF INHUMANITY
Last week: 514
Cume: 3,950
3rd week on. Pretty cool that a band named after maiming cows can sell 4k records.
84 TESSERACT – PERSPECTIVE – EP
Last week: 488 (debut)
From what I can tell Century Media didn’t put very much effort into promoting this release… not that you’d expect them to, as it’s basically a stop-gap akin to a live release or something. But I would still expect more than 488 from Tesseract.
93 ROYAL THUNDER – CVI
Last week: 475 (debut)
This is only the beginning for Royal Thunder. Word of mouth buzz on this band is fantastic and they have a bright future ahead of them if they stay together and tour a lot.
