UNSIGNED AND UNHOLY: COLARIS, SECRETS OF THE SKY, IN THE COMPANY OF SERPENTS
You know what’s better than being the first one on your block to know about the next up-and-coming unsigned band so you can say “I can knew them back in the day” when they become huge? Nothing is, that’s what. So be that cool kid and listen to Colaris, Secrets of the Sky and In the Company of Serpents:
- Colaris: Here at U&U HQ we often make exceptions for bands signed to micro-labels we’ve never heard of, and today we’ll do so for Revolvermann Records artists Colaris. Their post-y, proggy, spacey, instrumental new record Renewal is up for streaming in full on the label’s Bandcamp page and through the widget below.
- Secrets of the Sky: This Oakland, CA group is equal parts Insomnium, The Ocean, Agalloch, Type O Negative, Opeth and something all their own. It’s dark, dark stuff with a tinge of progginess that crosses multiple sub-genres and it sounds fantastic. Stream two songs:
- In the Company of Serpents: Lean, mean and gritty sludge that manages to be both raw-sounding and tight at the same time, a rarity in this genre. with incredible infectious, stoner-y riffs.
