SOMEBODY THAT COHEED AND CAMBRIA USED TO KNOW

So, I’m admittedly really late to the Gotye party. We don’t have a rock radio station here in NYC, so my first real exposure to the song was on my recent trip to L.A., driving around in my rental car and listening to the radio, where this song is played at LEAST twice an hour. Damn, that shit is catchy! Serious question: is the album worth getting? I’m always looking to get my un-metal injection from unexpected places.

Coheed & Cambria have apparently been bitten by the Gotye bug too; they covered “Somebody That I Used to Know” on the very first night of their tour in Charlottesville, VA this past Sunday [via Metal Insider]. As I’d expect from musicians as talented (and weird) as these guys, they really made it their own. Claudio Sanchez’ soprano is perfectly suited for both the male and female parts, and dang, he totally nails it.
