“HOMO SUM” VIDEO: CREATIVE SPELLING WITH DECAPITATED
I really, really hate to make fun of Decapitated, because I absolutely adore them, and I thought their most recent album, Carnival is Forever, was totally top-notch, and while I have no idea who directed their new video, for “Homo Sum,” I know that English is not the band’s first language.
That being said, I’m going to make fun of them anyway, because they fucked up, and making fun of bands is, like, kinda my job.
See, the “Homo Sum” video is really just a performance clip with various words from the lyrics dispersed throughout the vid at various random intervals. And there’s a lyric in “Homo Sum” that goes “So learn how to live in the cage.” Except that whomever made this video decided they should spell the word “learn” L-E-R-N. And then I dunno how many people watched this thing and signed off on it, and no one caught it. I mean, I know I’m not really a good proofreader at all, but, y’know. Seems like maybe someone should have caught ONE word in GIANT LETTERS as it flashed across the screen, doesn’t it?
Oh well. Still a great song. Skip to 1:10 to see the boo-boo.
Carnival is Forever is out now on Nuclear Blast.
