METAL INJECTION’S “ON THE RECORD”: WOMEN IN METAL
To the shock and dismay of some men and the surprise and delight of others, the past ten years have demonstrated, inarguably, that women can like metal, too. This seems like it should be a fairly simple nonissue, and yet, somehow, it is not — because never mind that some knuckle draggers are still like “Metal should be a he-man women hater’s club!”, but because there are also women who, let’s be real, allow themselves to be exploited in order to help sell their music. Or are they allowing themselves to be exploited? Even that’s a controversial statement!
Which is why the subject was so ripe for the latest installment of Metal Injection‘s epic “On the Record” series. This episode, like the others, features a wide range of metallic experts weighing in on the subject at hand, including musicians (Anders Bjorler from At the Gates and The Haunted, Michael Amott from Carcass and Arch Enemy, GWAR’s Oderus Urungus, Dying Fetus’ John Gallagher, God Forbid’s Doc Coyle, and The Red Chord’s Guy Kozowyk), industry folks (reps from pretty much all the biggest metal labels), and media peeps (Decibel‘s Albert Mudrian, Revolver‘s Brandon Geist, Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin, Vince and myself, etc.). Check it out:
You can watch the first three episodes of “On the Record” here, here, and here; stay tuned to Metal Injection for future editions.
