THE ACACIA STRAIN SIGN A NEW RECORD DEAL WITH… RISE RECORDS?!?!
Put this one in the “Did Not See Coming” category: The Acacia Strain have inked a new deal with Rise Records.
Yup… Rise Records. Rise Records, whose roster includes such metal luminaries as Attack Attack!, Miss May I and The Devil Wears Prada.
In a way, it almost sort of kind of makes sense. Rise Records has made their name by dominating the metalcore market long after that sub-genre peaked, and now that deathcore has come and is just about to be gone, I can see them trying to get into the heavier game to capitalize on their fans’ evolving tastes. Seeing as The Acacia Strain were one of the OG deathcore acts… yeah actually nevermind, this makes no fucking sense.
No word on why The Acacia Strain did not re-sign with Prosthetic Records. My guess would be that Rise offered them a fat chunk of change.
Bottom line is that The Acacia Strain are easily my favorite deathcore band — and they wrote one of my favorite records of 2010 — so I’m pumped for new music regardless of what record label they’re on, and I’m sure they’ll deliver. A new record is supposedly slated for an October release.
In conclusion, DAT RIFF:
