MISCELLANEOUS FESTIVAL NEWS: BLACK SABBATH POSSIBLY HEADLINING LOLLAPALOOZA, CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED ADDED TO METALLICA’S ORION FEST
Wait a minute, I just had an idea… Someone get me Sharon Osbourne on the phone!!!
Two interesting news items that don’t have anything to do with each other other than they both relate to metal and festivals:
- Metal Injection points us towards what may or not be the actual, prematurely leaked line-up for this year’s Lollapalooza in Chicago; if the bill is accurate, it will include Black Sabbath. We’ll hafta wait and see if it’s real or not, but if it is, it begs all kinds of questions — primarily, “Who the heck is gonna play drums?”
- Richard Christy’s Charred Walls of the Damned have been added to Metallica’s Orion Music + More Festival, which will take place June 23 and 24 in Atlantic City. I’m not sure who will be in this live incarnation of CWOTD — the last time they played live, John Comprix, Matt Sorg, and Ed Stephens filled-in for guitarist Jason Suecof and bassist Steve DiGiorgio — but at the very least, expect vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens to be on hand. CWOTD will be on the extreme-music-friendly “Damage Inc. Stage,” natch, alongside Suicidal Tendencies, Sepultura, Red Fang, Torche, Kyng, Landmine Marathon, Black Tusk and Thy Will Be Done. That’s… actually a really solid line-up for a festival. Shame Metallica will have to play at some point and ruin it.
