CATTLE DECAPITATION’S “LIFESTALKER”: GET READY TO HAVE THE SOUND OF TRAVIS RYAN HOCKING A LOOGIE STUCK IN YOUR HEAD

“Lifestalker” is probably my favorite tune on Cattle Decapitation’s new album, Monolith of Inhumanity — and that’s no small compliment, ’cause the record may be Cattle Decap’s best yet, and is full of gems. But “Lifestalker”… it’s heavy, it’s epic, it’s catchy, Josh Elmore’s guitar solo is fucking great… it’s pretty much everything I want in a metal song. And while I have almost no idea what vocalist Travis Ryan is actually saying during the chorus, that part where it sounds like he’s screaming “YUCK!” and hocking a loogie is pretty much my new favorite thing ever. The ability to make a sound so gross seem so infectious is surely a commendable one.
