GET HUNG BY AN “EVIL TSAR”
Here at the MetalSucks Mansion, we’re big fans of New York’s own Hung, who appeared on the first volume of our free NYC Sucks compilation last year. The band gets a lot of attention for their namesake, electric violinist Lyris Hung (ex-Trans-Siberian Orchestra), ’cause, y’know, not many metal bands feature an electric violin player, or any violin player, for that matter. But Lyris’ presence is more than a mere gimmick, and there’s plenty of other great reasons to pay attention to this band, from their killer compositions to their great live show to the fact that they just plain old rock.
The band has self-produced some albums before, but their first really real available everywhere to everyone release, also titled Hung, is coming out on May 8 on ReThink Records (via The End Records), which was founded by Lamb of God’s Chris Adler. In other words, this band was hand picked by the ninth best drummer in modern metal. That alone right there should get you interested. And now Noisecreep is streaming a cut from the album, “Evil Tsar,” so that in case Chris Adler’s endorsement and the presence of an awesome electric violinist alone aren’t enough to pique your interest, you can fall back on the aforementioned killer compositions.
Headbang here, then let us know what you think in the comments section below. Remember that part up above where I said that Hung comes out out May 8? Well, hey, guess what? Hung comes out May 8.
