DEATH TO ALL TOUR: OBSCURA’S STEFFEN KUMMERER ANNOUNCED AS SECOND VOCALIST
Holy shit, this tour just keeps getting better and better!
Following the announcement earlier this week that Abysmal Dawn’s Charles Elliott would be the “first” vocalist on June’s Death to All Tour, Obscura’s Steffen Kummerer has now been added to the line-up as well. Kummerer and Elliott will join Death alum Paul Masvidal, Shannon Hamm, Bobby Koelble,Gene Hoglan, Sean Reinert, Steve DiGiorgio, and Scott Clendenin to help raise awareness for the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund , a charity that “provides financial assistance to all types of career musicians who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability, or age-related problems.”
What’s interesting to note is that neither Kummerer nor Elliott are known as “just” vocalists — they’re both vocalists/guitarists, as Chuck Schuldiner was. I assume this means that rather than having two Death guitarists on stage at any time, whomever is handling vocals on the song being performed will also handle second guitar duties. Which makes sense! And probably rules out any non-guitarist/vocalists from being added to the tour.
Metal Insider notes that “there’s likely even more singers and special guests still left to be announced,” so this thing is probably only going to get cooler still. While we await the next vocalist announcement, here are the tour dates again:
June 22 – San Francisco, CA @ The Regency Ballroom
June 23 – West Hollywood, CA @ House of Blues
June 26 – Chicago, IL @ House of Blues
June 28 – New York, NY @ Irving Plaza
