AXEL RUDI PELL BREAKS WIND
I have a lot of respect for Axel Rudi Pell as a dude, ’cause I asked him some incredibly rude interview questions, and he answered ’em with aplomb.
Unfortunately, I still do not have any respect for his music. So while I am going to direct you to Noisecreep, where they’ve debuted the ARP track “Run with the Wind,” I’m not going to tell you it’s good. Because it’s not good. It’s a giant turd.
I mean, it sounds like a parody of an 80s hard rock song. If it appeared over a parody of a training montage in a broad comedy, you’d think they wrote it just for the movie. Dirk Diggler would probably think it’s the best song ever. Whatever the power metal equivalent of a Triple A Riff is, that would be the best way to categorize “Wind.” Get my point?
Go here to listen to the song if you must. Actually, it’s kinda worth it just for the look on singer Johnny Gioeli’s face in the promo shot. I mean, there must have been any other number of photos that could have been used for the piece, but no, they had to run with the one with Gioeli can’t believe it’s not butter.
Axel Rudi Pell’s new album, Circle of the Oath, comes out March 27 on SPV/Steamhammer.
