THIS SHOULD BE INTERESTING: ZEUSS IS PRODUCING THE NEW HOWL ALBUM
Even good bands can benefit from a “third ear,” and I’ve always thought that to be a need for Rhode Island sludge monsters Howl. Howl are one of my favoritest live bands to see — their shows are just so POWERFUL — but even their latest release Full of Hell, which was solid, was a bit too rambling and unfocused to really get into.
Apparently someone in the band agrees, or perhaps their label/manager/whoever suggested as much, because according to The PRP they’ve tapped Zeuss (3 Inches of Blood, Arsis, Municipal Waste, The Red Chord, basically every band ever) to produce their next album. Turns out they’re actually tracking the album right now. Here’s a statement from frontman/guitarist Vincent Hausman:
“This is the meanest and heaviest thing we’ve ever done, and we feel like the songwriting is a big step forward since “Full Of Hell“. We’re super psyched to team up with Zeuss, because we feel like he’ll properly capture this monster of a record.”
Good to know that Vince recognizes the need to step up the songwriting; Zeuss is definitely a guy that can help them with that. Maybe this will finally be the Howl record that us fans who know they’ve got it in them have been waiting for. Expect a fall 2012 release via Relapse.
