DREDG WILL PLAY CATCH WITHOUT ARMS IN FULL AT HOMETOWN SHOW
With this whole “band playing full album live” trend showing no signs of stopping any time soon, it’s always interesting to note which album any given band chooses to highlight. First album? Fan favorite? Most popular?
Catch Without Arms is still my favorite Dredg album. El Cielo (2002) had its moments but was way too scattered, and while I really enjoyed The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion (2009) it didn’t have quite the same energy and drive as its 2005 predecessor. Their debut album Leitmotif was raw and unrefined — Dredg hadn’t really become Dredg yet, IMO — and let’s just say that last year’s Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy was not for me. So I’m happy to report that the band has chosen Catch Without Arms to play in full at a special show in Santa Ana, CA on March 22nd, near their hometown of Los Gatos, although I’m of course bummed I live on the opposite side of the country and can’t go.
Is Catch the band’s collective favorite album too? Is this just something special they’re doing for the fans while their own preferences lie elsewhere? I’d really like to know.
Jam Catch Without Arms in full on Spotify to get into the groove.
