THE NEW JUNGLE ROT VIDEO MAKES NO F*CKING SENSE
Jungle Rot’s new video, “Blood Ties,” has a narrative, but it makes no fucking sense. This girl returns home to her family, who are incredibly creepy-looking, and then, for no discernible reason, she voluntarily takes a sip of what looks like cough medicine but I’m sure is supposed to be blood. And then she seems all freaked out by the family, and rightfully so — they’re wearing fucking zombie make-up, which is, y’know, not at all normal. But instead of making a run for it or calling the cops and being all “Uh, something really whack is going on with my family,” she decides to inspect the basement, and then she gets caught and the video ends. And if the song were, as its title might suggest, about the inescapable bonds of family, I guess maybe I’d go along with the whole thing as some kind of incredibly-obvious and yet ill-conceived metaphor, except that’s not what the song is about — it’s about how awesome it is to be a member of the metal community. Y’know, like Jungle Rot’s answer to “Battery”:
Kindred spirits unite in darkness
We choose our fate, no disguise
Baptized in metal
Brothers we unite
Mighty we stand, rebellion the masterplan
Conformity we despise
So yeah none of this makes any fucking sense.
Fun song, though.
