THERE’S A LADY IN INTO ETERNITY NOW
Last year Into Eternity announced that they were looking for a touring vocalist since their own singer, Stu Block, is gonna be busy with Iced Earth for awhile. And now Metal Injection tells me that they’ve found their touring vocalist, and it’s not at all the kind of person you’d expect. By which I mean, you’d probably expect them to hire a dude, since Stu Block is a dude. And yet, they have hired a lady: Amanda Kiernan, from a band called The Order of Chaos (see what they did there?).
So, yeah, that’s kind of unusual.
I’m not opposed to this idea, and I totally understand the rationale behind it — a lot of Block’s vocals call for a super, super high-pitched performance, a barring the availability of Tim “Ripper” Owens, a woman, being sans testicles, might be one of the best options vis a vis finding a singer who can hit those notes. That being said, I have not yet heard any such stratospheric note-hitting in Kiernan’s music with The Order of Chaos… but she does sound like a good singer, and I’m sure Tim Roth and company know what they’re doing.
So, yeah, color me curious to see how the new, sexually revolutionized Into Eternity sounds. Presumably tour dates will be announced in the not-too-distant future.
While we wait for those, enjoy this video of Kiernan performing with The Order of Chaos in 2009:
