POTATO PO-TAH-TO, TO-MERA TO-MAH-TO: HOWEVER YOU PRONOUNCE IT, NEW ALBUM IS ON THE WAY
Maybe you’d like Dream Theater more if they had a different singer and less noodling. Maybe you thought they jumped the shark when Kevin Moore left the band after Awake. Maybe you don’t give a fuck about Dream Theater (maybe you even think they suck!) but you’re just a fan of good progressive metal in all its forms. Ladies and gentlemen: I give you To-Mera.
Since To-Mera have a pretty low profile in the U.S., let’s do a little catch up before getting into the details of their forthcoming new album (!). From 2008’s Delusions (which made my year-end list):

I haven’t listened to that stuff in years, since way before the term “djent” was ever a glimmer in anyone’s eye… and it’s pretty amazing how ahead of their time To-Mera were in retrospect.
So anyway, new album! To-Mera are currently recording their third full-length album in the U.K. with producer John Papas. Metal Underground nabbed the first two studio update videos of drummer Paul Westwood laying down some tracks, and while they’re pretty brief, clip 1’s got a nice meaty section of a new guitar riff included:
More good music on the way in 2012. Get excitebike! No news on a label or release date yet.
