F*CK YES: ARMORED SAINT ANNOUNCE THREE EAST COAST SHOWS
Last year, Armored Saint reunited to release an incredibly awesome comeback album, La Raza — but it was a bittersweet return, ’cause the band didn’t tour behind it, save for a couple of shows on the West Coast and in Germany. When I interviewed him for the album’s release, vocalist John Bush told me that “The idea of doing shows, although it’s something I want to do, I also want to do it on my terms… we spent many a show playing to forty fans and various bartenders and cocktail waitresses and club owners and opening bands and their crew…I don’t want to do that again, quite frankly.” And that’s totally understandable and I can’t fault Bush for feeling that way. But, unfortunately, it meant all us East Coast fans were totally screwed.
But no longer! For the band has announced three dates in this part of the country, including their first show in NYC in two decades. And while that’s obviously not a full tour, it will still make it far easier for some of us who live in states with actual seasons to go see the band live. And, better still, these are some intimate venues, so you’ll get to see Armored Saint do their thing from very, very close-up.
And it gets cooler still! According to bassist Joey Vera, the band will be taking requests… mid-show:
“In July, we held a poll asking fans to choose their favorite Saint songs and we compiled a list of the top 10. At recent gigs in Los Angeles and in Germany, we would allow fans to come up and choose one of the top 10 songs for us to play, right there on the spot. We did this 3 times during our set. It was such a good time that we’re going to do this again for our tri-state shows. John Bush will stop the show at 3 different times and choose someone from the crowd to come up and pick what song we play next. So come down and be a part of choosing our set list for the night!”
I’m so excited I just peed a little.
Support will come from Seven Witches. Below are the dates, in case you somehow can’t read the poster at the top of this post. I’m including links to buy tickets for the two shows already on sale, ’cause like I said, these venues are small, and I imagine they’re gonna sell out fairly quick:
11/30 Amityville, NY Ollie’s Point Bar (TICKETS)
12/02 Allentown, PA Crocodile Rock
12/03 New York, NY The Studio at Webster Hall (TICKETS)
