UNSIGNED AND UNHOLY: KERRETTA, OLD WOUNDS, BEFORE THE RAIN

You know the deal… lots of great unsigned bands, so little time. Let’s do this:

• Kerretta: Halfway between Big Sugar and Mastodon, blending big, burly stoner guitar riffs with blues-soaked synths. I wish there was more than just the one song posted on their Bandcamp. They’re signed to Midium Records in New Zealand so I guess they’re still “Unsigned and Unholy” in the U.S. right?
• Old Wounds: Nasty, vitriolic post-hardcore from New Jersey. I’m no hardcore buff, but this is the kind of stuff that I can get down with; just enough metal influence to keep me entertained. With all five tracks of their new album Terror Eyes clocking in at less than 10 minutes combined, these guys get to the point quickly. Check out Terror Eyes in full at Bandcamp.
