FEELING THE F*CKING WRATH FOR THE ATLAS MOTH
Yesterday was a big day for new music; amidst new tracks from Hull, Textures, Landmine Marathon and Skeletonwitch we had an embarrassment of riches. Hopefully you can forgive us for missing a couple of important new debuts from The Fucking Wrath and The Atlas Moth, as we’re back today to right our wrongs. Just because we didn’t get to these yesterday doesn’t mean we think they’re less important; you need to listen to these two new tracks!
First up: The Fucking Wrath. Part of me thinks this band would get way less attention if they were just called “The Wrath,” but there is no denying THE FUCKING RIFFS. They should just change their band name to The Fucking Riffs because that exactly what they do so well; whiskey-soaked rock jamz in the blues-inspired keys of E and A. Listen to “The Question” at Brooklyn Vegan; Valley of the Serpent’s Soul comes out on September 27 via Tee Pee Records.
The Atlas Moth’s new album An Ache For the Distance, out September 20 via Profound Lore, is shaping up to be a doozy. I fell in love with “Coffin Varnish” when Stereogum streamed it a couple weeks ago, and I’m falling in love all over again with “Holes In the Desert,” now available at Pitchfork. The Atlas Moth’s new album is like a hot girl you meet who only becomes more and more attractive as you get to know her winning personality; layers upon layers of hotness! I just downloaded my advance copy and cannot wait to listen; these two songs are so good.
