NEILSTEIN SOUNDSCAM: EMO CONVICTS AND DEATHCORE ARE SELLING RECORDS
Last week we focused on the complete inertia of modern rock radio over the past 10 years, as manifested in the top ten selling records of the week. Rest assured, all ten of those releases are still selling well… no need to re-hash them in this space again. Instead let’s look at newer records, including debuts from All Shall Perish, Wirestledabearonce, Jamey Jasta’s solo effort and more.

2 FALLING IN REVERSE – THE DRUG IN ME IS YOU
Last week: 17,862 (debut)
I had to look this band up. Apparently they’re an emo-y metal band fronted by ex-Escape the Fate singer Ronnie Radke, who just finished serving two years in prison for his role in beating some kid to death. Apparently they also sell a shit-ton of records. Everyone who bought this should pat themselves on the back for supporting violence and shitty music. Click here if you enjoy nails on a chalkboard.
5 ALL SHALL PERISH – THIS IS WHERE IT ENDS
Last week: 8,421 (debut)
Honestly had no clue this band was so popular. Great first week number.
9 IWRESTLEDABEARONCE – RUINING IT FOR EVERYBODY
Last week: 5,336 (debut)
Pretty solid debut. Wonder how it stacks up against their last album?
12 JASTA – JASTA
Last week: 3,991 (debut)
Fans do not seem nearly as interested in the Jasta brand, in any form, as they do Hatebreed; see also Kingdom of Sorrow’s latest album’s first week, with nearly identical numbers.
15 SUICIDE SILENCE – BLACK CROWN
Last week: 3,409
Cume: 23,015
31 CHELSEA GRIN – MY DAMNATION
Last week: 2,373
Cume: 9,222
It is interesting to watch these two bands experience parallel chart movement on different scales. Chelsea Grin are like a mini-me version of Suicide Silence.
71 YOUNG BLOODS – REBIRTH
Last week: 1,403
Cume: 4,730
See #2 above, minus the prison / beatdown part. Listen if you dare. Also:
