WOULD ANYONE LIKE SOME FREE COMPILATIONS?
Because two young upstart blogs have put together a few for your listening pleasure. I haven’t had a chance to check any of these out myself yet, but, like the headline says, they’re free, so it seems worth mentioning, because what have you got to lose, right?
Here are the deets:
- Reader Ross Gnarly runs a blog called American Aftermath, and has compiled not one but TWO compilations for your listening pleasure. The first, Summer of Sludge, concentrates on — who’da thunk it? — sludge, and features bands like Dopethrone and Wizard’s Beard. The second, Grinding Aftermath, focuses on — again, HUGE SHOCK — grindcore, and seems to be much more my personal cup tea: bands on the comp include such greats as Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Brutal Truth, Fuck the Facts, Weekend Nachos, and Kill the Client. It’s also dedicated to the memory of the recently departed Seth Putnam, although there’s no Anal Cunt ditties on the collection.
- Reader David Ziegler also has a blahg, this one called Metal in Ruins. His comp is called, appropriately enough, Metal in Ruins: Bands to Know Pt. 1, and I guess it really is bands to know, because there’s a massive amount of groups here I’ve never heard of before, like This is Not a Game of Who the Fuck are You (great name) and Wideyedaze (terrible name), in addition to some not-very-famous bands I actually have heard of, like Coathanger Abortion and Northless. But, again… free recommendations? Sure, why not?
So, I hope you get some enjoyment out of at least one of these comps. And if not, well, at least they didn’t cost ya nuthin’.
