When those fucking Melvins announced they’d be playing every Friday in January at Los Angeles’ Spaceland, I was understandably jealous of the Left Coast crumb-bums who’d get to experience live performances of entire albums from the band’s diverse discography. Apparently, God or King Buzzo heard my prayers, because the band will hit New York this June to play two glorious album-centric nights back-to-back.

On June 6 at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, Melvins will perform weirdo favorites Eggnog and Lysol, along with their major label sludge rock masterpiece Houdini. The following night, June 7, they’ll tackle Bullhead (the record that gave Boris a name) and Stoner Witch. Tickets go on sale this Friday, and I wont be surprised in the least if they sell out.
These concerts come just about a week after the scheduled release date for Sugar Daddy, a Melvins live album due May 31 from Mike Patton’s Ipecac Recordings. The tracklist features material primarily off A Senile Animal and Nude With Boots, though sadly nothing from last year’s fan-dabi-dozi The Bride Screamed Murder LP. In addition to this release, it’s a pretty safe bet that they’ll have some sweet limited merch with them.
Now excuse me while I finish…
