GOD DETHRONED DETHRONED

Well, here’s a real bummer. From God Dethroned’s official Facebook page:

Soooo… what can you really say in a situation like this? We’re God Dethroned fans here at MetalSucks, and we hate to seem them go. At the same time, I certainly sympathize with feeling “over it” in terms of the touring lifestyle; I think a lot of people romanticize touring, but unless you’re in a big fancy band that can afford all the bells of whistles, the reality is that touring BLOWS. I honestly have no idea how anyone does it ever. You’re away from home, away from your loved ones, if you’re lucky you’re making just enough to get by but you might very well be losing money, you’re sleeping wherever you can, bathing wherever you can (and on nothing resembling a regular schedule), driving in a shitty van for hours (if you’re lucky you have a bus, but I feel like there’s no way God Dethroned were a bus band)… I mean, you have to really, really, REALLY love to play live for all that shit to be worth it. So I see where these cats are coming from.

But maybe we’ll get lucky… maybe after that year or two break, the band will want to get back together and give it another go. I mean, these days, reunions almost seem like a forgone conclusion, don’t they?

And besides, the band is packing it in ’til the end of the year. That’s like ten more months of God Dethroned goodness! Right now the band only has three tour dates lined up (get ’em here), but hopefully news of some kind of proper farewell trek will be forthcoming… in the meantime, here is my favorite God Dethroned song, from 2006’s The Toxic Touch…
