UNNECESSARY ROUGHNESS WITH THE RED CHORD’S GREG WEEKS: THE CFL IS FUN AND CONFUSING

I’d like to once again thank my replacements for last week. They taught us how stupid American football is, how to do a football blog correctly, and what it feels like to root for a losing team.

Speaking of which, congratulations are in hand for the Buffalo Bills and their first season win! And a bigger thanks goes to the Detroit Lions for giving it to them. I think Detroit wanted to keep their winless 2008 record intact and gave the Bills one for the win column. The Lions did break another record on Sunday though: most road losses for any NFL team. The record was previously held by themselves.

My Sunday was pretty hectic this week. We had a border crossing into Canada for a show in Windsor, ON at the Blind Dog. Besides having to get to know the different cultures and languages of a new country, the show was successful. I watched some CFL, which was fun and confusing. Three downs, the uprights in the front of the endzone, and said endzone being the size of a regular U.S. football field. We actually have a friend in the Canadian Football League. His name is Peter and he plays for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. I’ll have to have him explain all the rules to me when next we speak . At the end of the night they did show the Pats-Steelers game so I was pretty pumped about that.

The Broncos crushed KC with a little help from young QB Tim Tebow who forgot to wear his John 3:14 under-eye sun blockers. He threw his first TD as a professional god fearing football player. Amen, Tim! Team jumper Randy Moss couldn’t bring his Titans to victory even with his one 26 yard reception as the fish overcame Tennessee with ease. I’m excited to see who Randy will be playing for next week. Maybe for our friends in the CFL.

So, with Loonies and Toonies jingling in my pocket, I bid you all a fond adieu. See you next week in the States.
